How to Reduce Business Expenses by Using Remote Control ...

When it comes to a organization there are so a lot of distinct variables that indicate how effective or unsuccessful a organization is. One of the major aspects that all corporations have to take into account on a daily basis is a budget. With all companies, the budget has to be correctly split and laid out to ensure that each and every component of the company is funded with the proper amount of money to avoid overspending or under-budgeting. This consists of salaries, advertising costs, property taxes, price to use outside vendors, and so on.

Often firms that are run today are highly technology-based. Even if the goods or services offered don?t have considerably to do with anything technologies or computer-based, the reality is that life nowadays is built on technologies, and therefore it is no surprise that corporations rely heavily on computers and other technologies to be productive and productive on a every day basis. Nevertheless, along with utilizing technology comes the require for an IT department that is able to oversee, maintain, and monitor the network. This department has to be properly trained, manned, and funded to provide for technologic-assistance whenever it is needed. Several times a organization will depend on outside support from vendors and contractors to assist with network and other technologies-based troubles.

Christmas Day storms blamed for 2 deaths

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) ? Twisters hopscotched across the Deep South, and, along with brutal, straight-line winds, knocked down countless trees, blew the roofs off homes and left many Christmas celebrations in the dark. Holiday travelers in the nation's much colder midsection battled treacherous driving conditions from freezing rain and blizzard conditions from the same fast-moving storms.

As predicted, conditions were volatile throughout the day and into the night with tornado warnings still out for some parts of Alabama. The storms were blamed for two deaths, several injuries, and left homes from Louisiana to Alabama damaged.

In Mobile, Ala., a tornado or high winds damaged homes, a high school and church, and knocked down power lines and large tree limbs in an area just west of downtown around nightfall. WALA-TV's tower camera captured the image of a large funnel cloud headed toward downtown.

Rick Cauley, his wife, Ashley, and two children were hosting members of both of their families. When the sirens went off, the family headed down block to take shelter at the athletic field house at Mobile's Murphy High School.

"As luck would have it, that's where the tornado hit," Cauley said. "The pressure dropped and the ears started popping and it got crazy for a second." They were all fine, though the school was damaged. Hours after the storm hit, officials reported no serious injuries in the southwestern Alabama city.

Meanwhile, blizzard conditions hit the nation's midsection.

Earlier in the day, winds toppled a tree onto a pickup truck in the Houston area, killing the driver. Icy roads already were blamed for a 21-vehicle pileup in Oklahoma, and the Highway Patrol there says a 28-year-old woman was killed in a crash on a snowy U.S. Highway near Fairview.

The snowstorm that caused numerous accidents pushed out of Oklahoma late Tuesday, carrying with it blizzard warnings for parts of northeast Arkansas, where 10 inches of snow was forecast. Freezing rain clung to trees and utility lines in Arkansas and winds gusts up to 30 mph whipped them around, causing about 71,000 customers to lose electricity for a time.

Blizzard conditions were possible for parts of Illinois, Indiana and western Kentucky with predictions of 4 to 7 inches of snow.

An apparent tornado also caused damage in Grove Hill, about 80 miles north of Mobile.

Mary Cartright said she was working at the Fast Track convenience store in the town on Christmas evening when the wind started howling and the lights flickered, knocking out the store's computerized cash registers.

"Our cash registers are down so our doors are closed," said Cartright in a phone interview.

Trees fell on a few houses in central Louisiana's Rapides Parish, but there were no injuries reported, said sheriff's Lt. Tommy Carnline. Near McNeill, Miss., a likely tornado damaged a dozen homes and sent eight people to the hospital, none with life-threatening injuries, said Pearl River County emergency management agency director Danny Manley.

Gov. Phil Bryant declared a state of emergency in the state, saying eight counties have reported damages and some injuries.

Fog blanketed highways, including arteries in the Atlanta area, which was expected to be dealing with the same storm system on Wednesday. In New Mexico, drivers across the eastern plains had to fight through snow, ice and low visibility.

At least three tornadoes were reported in Texas, though only one building was damaged, according to the National Weather Service.

More than 400 flights nationwide were canceled by the evening, according to the flight tracker FlightAware.com. More than half were canceled into and out of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport that got a few inches of snow.

Christmas lights also were knocked out with more than 100,000 customers without power for at least a time in Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama.

In Louisiana, quarter-sized hail was reported early Tuesday in the western part of the state and a WDSU viewer sent a photo to the TV station of what appeared to be a waterspout around the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway in New Orleans. There were no reports of crashes or damage.

Some mountainous areas of Arkansas' Ozark Mountains could get up to 10 inches of snow, which would make travel "very hazardous or impossible" in the northern tier of the state from near whiteout conditions, the weather service said.

The holiday may conjure visions of snow and ice, but twisters this time of year are not unheard of. Ten storm systems in the last 50 years have spawned at least one Christmastime tornado with winds of 113 mph or more in the South, said Chris Vaccaro, a National Weather Service spokesman in Washington, via email.

The most lethal were the storms of Dec. 24-26, 1982, when 29 tornadoes in Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi killed three people and injured 32.

In Mobile, a large section of the roof on the Trinity Episcopal Church is missing and the front wall of the parish wall is gone, said Scott Rye, a senior warden at the church in the Midtown section of the city.

On Christmas Eve, the church with about 500 members, was crowded for services.

"Thank God this didn't happen last night," Rye said.

The church finished a $1 million-plus renovation campaign in June 2011, which required the closure of the historic sanctuary for more than a year.

Holiday Health Tips for Seniors ? Mackarey & Mackarey Physical ...

Dr. Mackarey's Health & Exercise ForumAccording to American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), seniors are considered those 50 years old and older! By this definition, as hard as it is to admit, I am a senior and as one, I offer holiday health tips for seniors.

Overindulgence during the holidays causes many seniors make New Year?s resolutions related to diet and exercise. But, this year, I propose that you incorporate healthy habits during the holiday season, and you may find that your resolutions are not as hard to keep.

1. Exercise every day:?Every evening, get out of the house for a walk to view the Christmas lights. Dress for the weather, walk with a companion, and take along a flashlight to illuminate your path. Use caution to avoid falls on slippery sidewalks.

2. Combine shopping and walking.: In inclement weather, combine holiday shopping with your exercise. Indoor malls are great places to walk. Inquire with the mall management about walking clubs. Plan to shop early or late to avoid crowds. If you are planning on shopping in a particular store, park at the opposite end of the mall ? even if time is short, you will still get some exercise.

3. Remember to take your medications:?Routines are disrupted during the holidays and you may forget important medications. Make a special reminder to take your medications or order re-fills. If you are traveling, be sure to take enough medications with you in case of delays and have a copy of your prescriptions in case of loss. Be sure to bring a phone number for your doctor along with your health insurance cards, in case of emergency. Carry your medications in your carry-on luggage if you are flying.

4. Eat your vegetables and salad first: Beginning your meal with healthy vegetables and salads will fill you up and reduce the temptation to over-indulge on high-fat, high-calorie foods. Taste your holiday favorites in small amounts to satisfy your palate.

5. Be aware of drug interactions: According to Dr. Amy Anderson, internal medicine physician on the medical staff at Baylor University Medical Center,? says holiday spices like cloves, thyme and sage can interfere by as much as 50 percent with the body?s natural ability to utilize common drugs.? Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about your medications and find out if there are any foods you should avoid while taking them. Also, be aware that alcohol should be avoided when taking many drugs.

6. Know your food ingredients: If you have food allergies, ask about ingredients before you indulge. Be especially careful of home-baked goods if you have an allergy to tree nuts or peanuts. Those ingredients can be deadly if you are affected by these types of allergies.

7. Practice allergy-free decorating: If you suffer from allergic rhinitis, holiday decorations stored in the attic and basement can build up a coating of dust and mold that can trigger allergies. Some people may also need to rethink Christmas tradition and substitute an artificial tree.

8. Get a flu shot: The holiday season includes plenty of kissing and hand shaking. Getting a yearly flu shot and frequent hand washing are your best defense for avoiding the flu. If you are sick with a cold or flu, limit contact with others until you are well so you don?t infect others.

9. Get a good night?s sleep: Holiday preparations and helping Santa means less sleep. Do your best to get to sleep 6-7 hours every night and avoid heavy foods and alcoholic beverages before bedtime. If you need to recharge, take a nap during the day.

10. Spend Time With Loved One?s: The holiday season and throughout the year, be proactive and participate in outings with family and friends. Make a call and invite a loved one over for coffee and eagerly accept invitations. Studies show, those who are social and interactive are mentally and physically healthier.

Iran media report new cyberattack by Stuxnet worm

(AP) ? An Iranian semi-official news agency says there has been another cyberattack by the sophisticated computer worm Stuxnet, this time on the industries in the country's south.

Tuesday's report by ISNA quotes provincial civil defense chief Ali Akbar Akhavan as saying the virus targeted a power plant and some other industries in Hormozgan province in recent months.

Akhavan says Iranian computer experts were able to "successfully stop" the worm.

Iran has repeatedly claimed defusing cyber worms and malware, including Stuxnet and Flame viruses that targeted the vital oil sector, which provides 80 percent of the country's foreign revenue.

Tehran has said both worms are part of a secret U.S.-Israeli program that seeks to destabilize Iran's nuclear program.

The West suspects Iran is pursuing a nuclear weapons program, a charge Tehran denies.

(AP) ? An official statement says President Mohammed Morsi has ordered parliament's upper chamber to convene on Wednesday.

The statement Monday comes a day after Morsi appointed 90 members to the Islamist-dominated Shura Council. The 90 include at least 30 Islamists and six minority Christians. The council has a total of 270 members, two-thirds of them elected.

The toothless body was elected last winter by less than 10 percent of the 51 million eligible voters. It will assume legislative powers until a lower chamber is elected within the next two months. Morsi has had legislative powers since the lower chamber was dissolved by a court in June.

The council's empowerment is provided for in a new constitution passed in a referendum over the past two weekends, according to unofficial results.

Christmas Party 2012 ? thejarjouras

Typically, I spend months planning a party. So three weeks ago when I decided to throw a little Christmas party at our house, I quickly got into party mode?there was no time to waste. I wanted a?small, intimate, and fun party for the kids as well as the adults. I had a lot of ideas; but neither of our shipments have arrived in Shanghai yet, so I had to start over?with Christmas decor, craft supplies and party supplies. My work was definitely cut out for me! After some thought, I decided to go with candy cane stripes for the decor and the theme was cookie decorating and letters to Santa for the kids. The adults were easy: hors de oeuvres, spirits and conversation!

We started by eating pizza for dinner, then the kids wrote their letters to Santa. Each letter had an addressed envelope to Santa at the North Pole and pre-paid postage! It was fun reading what the kids want Santa to bring them? Stavros decided while writing his letter to ask for a yellow bike from Santa. What, a yellow bike?! That?s the first time ?Santa? has heard of this, I?m sure? Yikes, not what Santa planned on dropping off for Stavros. After writing the letters, a courier happened to stop by the house to get the letters to Santa over-night (perfect timing)! I set up a craft station for the kids, where they painted, colored, glued and constructed holiday-themed crafts. I wanted the kids to take the lead, so they saw the supplies and did whatever came to mind! I don?t know why, but painting is best when multiple children contribute. I think the crafts were the favorite part of the evening for all the kids. There were big smiles all around.

Once everyone finished?with their crafts, the kids used their photo props I made to take silly photos. The kids had three options: a Santa hat and beard, Rudolph antlers and red nose, or an elf hat and ears! Fun! Next, we began decorating the cookies. The kids all got an apron, chef hat and oven mitt for the activity. I set out all the decorating supplies on the table, and just let the kids take the lead. Stavros, Tammer and I made the cookies earlier that morning, so the cookies were delicious and difficult to resist while decorating. Each kid got a bag to take his/her decorated cookies home to enjoy or save for Santa. Next, we headed to the dining room for some Christmas cake! Whenever there is cake, Stavros insists on candles. So, we all sang Happy Birthday to Jesus and three of the boys blew out the candles together. It was very sweet and very original, all thanks to my three-year-old?s tenacity!

For party favors, the kids got a reindeer water bottle, reindeer candy canes, a reindeer zippered pouch from Starbucks, hand-made Santa lollipops, snowman soup packets, a holiday cookie from H??gen Dazs, a reindeer tree ornament and a snowman or reindeer candy bar. It was a successful party with great company. I loved the intimacy and I look forward to doing it again next year when Stavros will have an even better understanding of Christmas.
