Crowdsourcing company blur Group () today revealed it has seen a surge in customers using its services for public relations (PR) purposes lately.

blur?s Global Services Exchange lets customers find a job or service by outsourcing it electronically to the person or firm willing carry it out for the right price, and/or to deadline.

In the last six weeks alone, the web-based firm has received over US$600,000 of briefs from US and European customers for PR campaigns, projects and agencies.

Founder and chief executive officer Philip Letts said: ?The emphasis in PR briefs and the increasing high profile of agencies joining the Exchange shows that business is realising that this model for buying creative and business services is not just for small projects.

?With two PR projects over $200,000 and others ranging from $2,500 for one-offs to $100,000 for multiple campaigns, it?s clear that there?s a new world of PR options out there for companies, looking for results.?

The company added that of the marketing experts and agencies using its services, 20% specialise in PR, including a number of the world?s top 50 agencies.
